Plastics For Change Foundation India Donates House To Plastic Recyclers
The Plastics For Change India Foundation has been working to develop and improve the quality of life of informal waste-collectors across India. the waste -pickers/ waste-collectors- are the backbone of the solid waste management system in India, providing a valuable service to society and contributing to environmental sustainability. Millions of people in India make a living collecting, sorting, recycling and selling materials that someone else has thrown away. In India, waste-pickers provide the only form of solid waste collection, providing widespread public benefits and to environment sustainability. While recognition for their contributions is growing in some places, they often face low social status, deplorable living and working conditions and get little support from local governments. Plastics for Change India Foundation was set up in Sept 2019 as the charitable arm of Plastics for Change Recycling Corporation. The Foundations core objective is to provide dignified sustainable economic opportunities for the urban poor and improve their quality of life through social interventions. The mission of Plastics for Change is to liberate a million waste workers by providing fair market access through the platform. Plastics for Change will activate the fairtrade supply chain in additional locations. In addition to secured livelihood opportunities, this will provide social services like healthcare, education, training, social and financial inclusion services for the well-being of waste workers and their families.
